Sales company Recreation and media fund Incentive Capital have come on to represent international sales on Spike Lee's "Red Hook Summer."

The film will be screened privately for international distributors at the Cannes Film Market.

"Red Hook" is directed by Lee, who reprises his role as "Mookie" from "Do the Right Thing" along with Jules Brown, Tony Lysaith, Clarke Peters and Nate Parker. Lee co-wrote the script with James McBride. Lee's production company 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks produced with McBride.

40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks is partnering with distribution company Variance Films to theatrically release the film in the U.S. beginning on Aug. 10 in New York, with a national rollout to follow. "Red Hook Summer" world premiered at Sundance in January.

Recreation and Incentive Capital announced a pact last month to collaborate on the international distribution of Incentive's library of over 850 titles.

The deal was negotiated by Ariel Veneziano of Recreation and Joe Pia of Incentive Capital with CAA and Artie Indursky and Robert Strent of Grubman Indursky Shire & Meiselas on behalf of Lee and 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks.
