MIPTV: Samuel L. Jackson's 'The Return of Super Fly' Among Library Titles Touted

L.A.-based Recreation pacts with library rights holder Incentive Capital to offer international buyers music programming starring Jessica Simpson, The Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West among others.

LONDON – Samuel L. Jackson starrer The Return of Super Fly, a 13-part series narrated by Oscar winner Ben Kingsley named Religions of the World and documentary Tupac: Assassination are among the titles to be touted during the upcoming MipTV market in Cannes.

The titles are among a large film and TV library being offered following a deal struck between L.A.-based sales banner Recreation, headed by former Icon Entertainment sales guru Ariel Veneziano and Salt Lake City-based media fund Incentive Capital.

Veneziano’s Recreation will stick handle the international distribution of the Incentive Capital library with Incentive.

The deal marks the beginning of an “ongoing partnership between Incentive and Recreation, as the companies aggressively scout for new acquisitions,” the parties said.

Executive producer and industry advisor Peter Wetherell, president of Magus Entertainment, helped broker the deal and will continue to be involved with both future acquisitions and the exploitation of the library worldwide.

Incentive remains the rights holder to the 850 title strong catalog which amounts to more than 3,000 hours of movies, TV programs and music documentaries and concerts.

Music content on offer feature turns from Jessica Simpson, The Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, Santana, Sheryl Crow, Metallica,The Gypsy Kings, The Beach Boys, Abba, The Beatles, Neil Young, Joe Cocker, The Rolling Stones and Sting.

Classic television series in the catalog include Blake Edwards’ Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Peter Gunn and Mr. Lucky.

“Incentive has extremely valuable assets in its film and television library, allowing us to bring a far-reaching selection of product in different genres and formats to the marketplace,” Veneziano said. “It is also a great foundation for future joint business endeavors.”
