BERLIN -- Neil Friedman's Menemsha Films has signed a deal with Recreation Media that will see
Recreation take over sales duties on Menemsha's slate starting at the European Film Market in Berlin.

The deal, announced by Friedman and Recreation's Ariel Veneziano, includes "Kawasaki's Rose" from Czech director Jan Hrebejk ("Divided We Fall") which will open the Berlin Festival's Panorama Special section on Friday. Also on Menemsha's slate is Luki Boeken's "Saviors in the Night," which premiered in Locarno; Michael Verhoeven's documentary "Human Failure"; and another Hrbejk title, the comedy "Shameless."

"Over the years, Neil has demonstrated unparalleled flair for finding cinematic gems from all over the world," Veneziano said. "Additionally, Menemsha has emerged as a top-notch domestic distributor, complementing the international sales activity and making this an ideal inaugural partnership for Recreation."

Menemsha's next U.S. release is the Israeli comedy "A Matter of Size," which bows March 12 in Boston.
